Introductory week of the Mentoring for ESD-Leadership Programme
In March, all participants of the second batch of the Mentoring for ESD-Leadership Programme came together on a sustainably managed estate in Nauen (Brandenburg) for the nine-day introductory week.
The introductory week is the kick-off meeting of the altogether ten months blended learning programme. The mentees got trained in the areas of project management as well as leadership and met their mentors in person for the first time. Together, the participants worked on developing the mentees’ ESD projects further.
Part of the introductory week was a trip to the government capital of Berlin. After a discussion with representatives of local non-governmental organisations about the political conditions of ESD in Germany, the German Parliament was visited. The German member of parliament and speaker of the Working Group on Economic Cooperation and Development Mrs Gabi Weber (Social Democrat Party) spent an hour to explain the current government policy in the area of ESD and answered the participants’ questions. After visiting the building’s cupola, the day was rounded off by a sightseeing tour of the most important sights. The introductory week was a lively start of this year’s programme. Until the next attendance phase in July, the mentees’ training will continue via the online platform Moodle.
